Ghoulish Halloween Events in Colchester & North Essex

There are loads of spooky Halloween events going on this week all over Colchester and the surrounding areas so we thought we would highlight a few, just to get the word around. We reckon our picks offer great entertainment and something educational too.

Shriek Week @ Colchester Zoo

Every day until November 3rd

There’s some spooky goings on at Colchester Zoo this week. With lots of ghoulish activities, creepy crafts and devilish displays there is something to frighten everyone. There is also a pumpkin carving competition  so make sure to take your carved pumpkin along for a chance to win a fantastic special prize.

Shriek Week FRIGHT NIGHTS @ Colchester Zoo

October 28th, 30th & 31st and November 2nd

Some especially scary after dark events at Colchester Zoo as the doors stay open till 9.30pm. Your nerves are put to the test as you face your fears. Ghouls, ghosts and something very strange are coming your way.

Scaresville @ Kentwell Hall

Journey through dark buildings, farmland and forest as you experience an hour of pure terror. No guides, no help. Nowhere to hide.

Magic Potions @ Fingeringhoe Wick Visitor Centre

October 30th between 10am – 12pm

A great Halloween treat for the kids. Collect ingredients and brew the most magical, bubbling, colour changing potions.

Wizards & Witches @ Marsh Farm

Until November 3rd

Carving pumpkins, searching for magic ingredients, a ghost train, witches, wizards, ghosts. Plenty to keep the children entertained with this half-term Halloween extravaganza. And once the sun goes down things get really freaky.

Halloween Hoo-Ha @ Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum

October 30th 11am – 4pm

Overcome those phobias and get up close to the creepiest crawlies. Take the guided tour of the Arboretum to discover all that is spooky about Marks Hall before coming face to face with the Screaming Oak.
